A solid win for Ilford with 2 of our players, Tom and Syd, convincingly winning both games. In the first round top junior prospect Bui gave Neville a hard time on board 1, going 2 pawns up and thwarting every tactic Neville tried.  But fortunately, by then, Ilford had taken a 2.5-0.5 lead.

At 2.5 -1.5 up, Jef was struggling to win his first game. He went from a comfortable pawn up to losing pawns in the endgame. However, the clock saved him, and he won on time with just 14 seconds left! That gave a vital 3.5-1.5 lead at the turn round.

Anthony and Syd then won their second games in under half an hour, and the match was effectively over with 5.5 points in the bag.

We play Thurrock at home in the Semi-Final.
