In the Metropolitan 1 away match Ilford are 5-4 up with Steve Abbott’s game adjourned which looks difficult to hold – see position below. The teams were evenly matched and it was close fought.
Tom Barton’s game was the last to finish. A ding dong affair he was worse but managed to mix it up and with both his opponent and he queening he had an opportunity to win the game in the final time scramble – then he went and put his queen en pris! Aaaagh!
Still, Ilford will at least halve the match and continue to add to the points tally.
